INTI and MYDIN Support Subang Jaya Through Water Festival Initiative

August 11, 2025

The partnership between INTI International College Subang (IICS) and Mydin Mohamed Holdings Berhad (MYDIN) continues to make a meaningful impact, with a new initiative reaching communities in and around Subang Jaya. Organised by the School of Business Communication (SBC), this year’s Water Festival extended beyond campus activities and into the heart of community service.

The initiative demonstrates INTI’s ongoing dedication to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). By transforming classroom learning into practical action, SBC provided students with the chance to be part of something greater — while directly assisting those in need.

SBC students and faculty from INTI International College Subang prepared and distributed 68 care packs worth RM6,000 to underprivileged families in Subang Jaya, Puchong, Putra Heights, and Bukit Kinrara.

In line with SDGs 1 (No Poverty), 2 (Zero Hunger), 3 (Good Health and Well-being), and 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), SBC has once again partnered with MYDIN to widen its outreach. Together, they distributed 67 grocery packs to Pusat Kebajikan Masyarakat Subang Jaya (PKMSJ), and an additional 13 packs directly to B40 households in Puchong, Putra Heights, and Bukit Kinrara.

The care packs, valued at RM6,000 in total, contained necessities such as rice, cooking oil, sardines, instant noodles, biscuits, tea, coffee, salt, sugar, and flour. These items offered immediate relief to families while also tackling broader issues of food insecurity and wellbeing.

On 29 July, SBC students and faculty personally delivered the grocery packs. For many, the experience reinforced the idea that education is not limited to the classroom. It also involves understanding people, making meaningful contributions, and learning how to respond to real-world challenges.

Dr Kevin Chuah, the project advisor, shared the value of these encounters:
“Our role is to give students the right exposure. Malaysians, especially our youth, genuinely care about society. When students see the difference they can make, even in small ways, it inspires them to stay committed to creating positive social change.”

SBC students share meaningful moments with the Subang Jaya community during INTI’s Water Festival outreach, an initiative that brought learning to life through real-world impact.

Datuk Wira (Dr) Haji Ameer Ali Mydin, Managing Director of MYDIN, shared:
“As a responsible retailer, MYDIN is committed to helping communities near where we operate. This partnership with INTI not only supports those in need but also encourages students to get involved and give back to society.”

This initiative reflects INTI’s focus on learning through real-life experiences. By working directly with industry partners, students gain a deeper understanding of social responsibility and how their actions can positively impact others.
